Why Cameron's veto isn't worth a row of beans
The big question is do we want to stay part of this union or do we want to get on with running our own affairs?. The cry for this year is
there MUST be a referendum on our continued membership of this union. Nigel Farage.

''Too many immigrants,'' says survey 03 January 2012
Excess immigration is still one of the main concerns among the British public, the UK Independence Party (UKIP) has said.
Quoting data released by the German Marshall Fund in the 'Transatlantic. Trends: Immigration survey for 2011', UKIP said that 57
per cent of people think there are "too many immigrants", 68 per cent regard immigration as more of a problem than an opportunity
and 71 per cent are worried about illegal immigration.

UKIP - Making history
As turbulent 2011 turns into 2012, we are entering a year which will undoubtedly loom large in the history books. Members of UKIP
are among the minority of people in the world who will have played an active part in that history, and the reshaping of politics
that will ensue.
The difference from one year ago is startling. As we entered 2011, with Nigel newly re-elected as leader, we were still regarded as
the eccentric gadflies of British politics.
Today, there is almost no-one, other than increasingly pathetic figures such as Lord Heseltine who refuse to recognise reality when
it punches them in the face, who does not accept that UKIP was, in many important respects, right all along.
Our views on the undemocratic nature of the EU project; on the absurdity of the Euro; on the arrogant profligacy of Brussels and
Strasbourg and – above all – on the utter futility of the Conservatives' wish to 'repatriate' powers from the European machine,
are now widely accepted as not just reasonable, but proven.
As the Wall Street Journal put it this week: "It is now clear that he [Cameron] made an attempt—as he had promised British
voters—to repatriate powers away from Brussels. This attempt was rebuffed with some prejudice. Given the outright hostility to
Britain now evident in the European Union establishment, any further attempt at repatriation will be a non-starter. The implications
are considerable.
Meanwhile, the noble Lord Pearson – so long accustomed to the groaning opprobrium of his peers as he relentlessly harries the EU in
the House of Lords – managed to successfully pilot a Bill through the House which would require the government to undertake a
cost-benefit analysis of our EUmembership. The European Union Membership (Economic Implications) Bill is now off to the Commons,
where it will be sat on by the government. But the damage is done. The peers voted for it, and the question is now on the table: why
won't you tell us what good the EU does us?
As we go into 2012, the bigger question – should we stay in the EU, or leave? – is now a part of mainstream political discourse. It
is no longer cranky or unthinkable, or, as the BBC's former political adviser once put it, "mad".
Without you, the UKIP members who have kept plugging away against the odds for the past 19 years, that would never have happened.
So what do we need to do in the year to come? Well first, while welcoming the conversion of so many new members to our cause, we
must not relax our vigilance. Fair-weather friends are just that. UKIP's place in British politics today is more vital than ever.
We must use the opportunity of generally being considered right, to cement ourselves into domestic politics, and advance towards our
foothold in Westminster. That means we must get people used to voting for us – or at least seeing us on the ballot paper – every
time they go to the polls.
Our results in local authority by-elections have been rising steadily; the number of UKIP councillors around the country is rising,
through both election and defection; and we are now recognised by the voting public as a sensible and realistic alternative choice.
As Dan Hannan, placing Nigel at No 3 in his list of 2011's Political Winners, said: "UKIP has enjoyed colossal and under-reported
successes since his return to the leadership. It came second at the Barnsley by-election, and has become a fixed presence in local
government. I shouldn’t be at all surprised if Nigel beats me to the top spot in our South East region at the next Euro-elections.
There is a rash of local government by-elections coming up, across the country. Every one must have a UKIP candidate. We owe it to
the electorate to provide that option.
Through a combination of winning the 2014 Euro elections and steadily building our presence in local politics nationwide, we will
give ourselves the opportunity to break through into Parliament. Where we reallywill make history.
May I thank you all for your hard work, contributions and commitment to the Party over the past 12 months, and wish you a very Happy
New Year.

Humour... Or frighteningly close to the truth?
Del-Boy comes out against EU.
In a recent interview, one of our best-loved actors Sir David Jason who played Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses has come out against
the EU.
He is quoted as saying “The irony is that here we are, the world has changed and the Germans want to run Europe. They failed to do it
by war, twice. What is it? Is this the Fourth Reich?”
He goes on to say “We have more and more rules coming out of Europe telling us what to do and I think people are getting a bit fed up
with it. This was supposed to be a common market. I don’t remember them ever saying we would be governed by Brussels and become a
satellite of Europe.”
Luvvly Jubbly Del Boy, keep up the good work!
Recent polls suggest Del speaks for a good many people in this country, yet we are still denied a referendum.
As Del might say - You plonker Cameron, get your finger out and give the people a referendum!
